Authorities searching Connecticut lake in connection to Aaron Hernandez case

By Daniel Arkin, Staff Writer, NBC News

Authorities are searching a lake in Bristol, Conn. ? the hometown of Aaron Hernandez ? in connection to the murder investigation against the former New England Patriots tight end, according to local police.

State and local police have not specified what they are looking for at Pine Lake, but officials confirmed Monday that the search stems from the case against Hernandez, who has been charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-professional football player from Boston, according to NBCConnecticut.com.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Lloyd, whose body was found June 17 in an industrial park roughly a mile from Hernandez?s residence in North Attleborough, Mass. Hernandez is being held in a Massachusetts jail.

Authorities have yet to find the gun used to murder Lloyd, according to The Associated Press.

Investigators have executed several search warrants in Bristol at residences tied to Hernandez and his associates Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz. Authorities have said they believe both men were with Hernandez the evening Lloyd was gunned down.
